A Brief Review of Formaldehyde Removal through Activated Carbon Adsorption
نویسندگان
چکیده
Formaldehyde is a highly toxic indoor pollutant that can adversely impact human health. Various technologies have been intensively evaluated to remove formaldehyde from an atmospheres. Activated carbon (AC) has used adsorb the atmosphere, which commercially viable owing its low operational costs. AC high adsorption affinity due surface area. In addition, applications of may be diversified by modification. Among different modifications for AC, amination treatments reported and evaluated. Specifically, amine functional groups amine-treated found play important role in formaldehyde. Surface impregnating and/or grafting onto literature. The impregnation amine-containing species on mainly achieved physical interaction or H-bond amines surface. Meanwhile, conducted through chemical reactions occurring between Herein, carboxyl group, as representative group plays key reactions. A qualitative comparison chemicals modification also discussed. Thermodynamics kinetics are firstly reviewed this paper, then major factors affecting adsorptive removal over highlighted discussed terms humidity temperature. new strategies amination, well option application, proposed safety processability.

Background and Purpose: Phenol and derivatives are common pollutants of drinking water which are blamed for crucial adverse effects such as poisoning, cancer, and malformation. In this study, an activated carbon of Miswak’s root (MR) was used for the removal of phenol from aqueous solutions as a low-cost and high surface adsorbent. Materials and Methods: Adsorption exper...
متن کاملRemoval of cesium through adsorption from aqueous solutions: a systematic review
Cesium radioactive isotopes (134Cs and 137Cs) are dangerous to human health due to their long half-life and high solubility in water. Nuclear experiments, wars, and nuclear plant accidents have been the main sources of Cs release into the environment. In recent years, several methods have been introduced for the elimination of Cs radioactive isotopes from contaminated wate...
متن کاملRemoval of chromium (VI) from aqueous solution by adsorption using cousinia eryngioides boiss and activated carbon
Adsorption capacity of Cr (VI) onto cousinia eryngioides boiss, activated carbon was investigated in a batch system by considering the effects of various parameters like contact time, initial concentration, pH, temperature, agitation speed, absorbent dose and particle size. Cr (VI) removal is pH dependent and found to be maximum at pH 2.0. The amounts of Cr (VI) adsorbed increased with increase...
